@winters2 said in pqq- an essential nutrient?: t’s an odd thing to consider, but some sources see it as an essential nutrient Yes, I agree, to optimize energy but not as the primary fuel. Must be seen as a protector against ROS. Very powerful and expensive. However I didn't notice any effect (positive or negative). Logical for ROS protection (under the radar). Make an addition of quinones to see if it's pertinent. Liver has to manage this side-effect. => Vit E K2 PQQ Q10

@winters2 I currently own this, purchased from PureBulk. At the time, this was the only seller of riboflavin-5-phosphate that I was aware of. That was at least 8 years ago. I know there must be a shelf-life on supplements, but I keep most everything I buy after the expiration date. I can't find an expiration on this. I'm sorry I can't provide anything about the quality; but as I say, at the time PureBulk was the only seller of this.

@winters2 haven’t noticed but thought as long as one doesn’t take more than a few milligrams of quinones and tocopherols together, it should be ok.

@gg12 sounds like peripherally neuropathy if it doesn’t go away upon movement. Vitamin d (eg sunshine) would help but you need to determine the cause. It could be from insufficient stomach acid for example. In that case seafood and lean pork might help coz of the taurine and glycine each has.

@Aniciete general good health and purposeful living is vitalizing to the whole organism and makes the eyes sparkle. So yeah the things wise people like ray peat allude to. If you’re referring to a tinge or more of yellow in the white of the eye or even in the skin, eating vitamin k foods and coffee (with cream and sugar) might help if the cause is jaundice. To soothe irritated eyes (for example from allergies or pollution) just soak 2 black(Lipton)tea bags in a very little bit of hot water. When it has cooled place one bag on ea eye while lying down. Leave on for several minutes at least.

Someone asked ray… Post in thread 'Ray Peat Email Advice Depository' https://lowtoxinforum.com/threads/ray-peat-email-advice-depository.1035/post-602236 “ I asked Ray what he personally would have done had he developed rapid, early-onset male pattern baldness. I also asked if he thought it possible to restore hair back the juvenile state (dense NW1). Ray: My first step would be to thoroughly investigate TSH, temperature, vitamin D, and calcium. No, everything is always changing, reflecting your whole situation. Developing baldness is a warning sign of basic metabolic problems, tending toward general circulatory disease. “

@winters2 it’s probably that it’s the least adulterated/processed ergo freshest saturated fat meat, given that beef and even mutton are more commonplace. I didn’t grow up eating it but was surprised to find it tasty when dining at an Indian restaurant.

@newyear2025 I think just swapping fiber for more nutrient dense animal products is the best first start. Small amounts of liver and oysters could be a good idea. You could look into L. Reuteri yogurt, that can usually take care of SIBO on its own. S. Boullardi is another strain that can out compete bad bacteria.

@winters2 said in hypothyroid no matter what: is this the only way to fix my hypothyroidism? We have to occupy the place in the presence of heavy metals. Heavy metals & antagonistic trace elements: Cadmium --> Zinc Lead --> Calcium, Molybdenum, Sulfur Aluminum --> Magnesium, Calcium, Phosphorus, Fluorine Mercury --> Sulfur + Selenium Arsenic --> Selenium Fluorine, chlorine, bromine --> I (+ Se) (for thyroid). Antimony (Sb) is a close brother of arsenic (As), classified in group 15 of the periodic table. Nitrogen family. Sb stands for "stibium", derived from a Latin word. Antimony is a metalloid, meaning it exhibits properties of both metals and nonmetals. What could help is to occupy the place. A dislodger of the possible squatter(s) on the thyroid gland (thanks to Se and I). => What helps to eliminate heavy metals. Glutathione peroxidase (GPx) has this ability for a good amount of Heavy metals (HM). Selenium and glutathione are needed for GPx. A thiol group has this ability (double-pronged forceps), as in garlic and broccoli. Be careful not to go about it haphazardly. You need tweezers (thiol molecules) and avoid opening the brain barrier. No ALA (alpha lipoic acid) at the beginning of the process. Too soon and too strong (brain). NB: Glutathione (GSH), containing a thiol group, plays a crucial role in detoxification, particularly in the liver, where it neutralizes toxins and aids in the elimination of metabolites. Need a special form if used as a means. Selenium is a precursor. See Cutler protocol for suggestion for other anti-oxidants when detoxifying HM. I repeat: Never detoxifying for a too long period (4-6 wk.), change the molecule, make staples with pause to reload energy and useful nutrients brought away by chelation.

After trying normal coffee for a couple of weeks I'm switching back to torrefacto. I use same amount of normal coffee (vs torrefacto) to get a desirable taste/consistency/ stomach comfort. I noticed it started giving me a headache even from one cup...probably high pressure due to too much caffeine. If I use less amount of coffee it will be too watery. I can sip at torrefacto coffee all day long , I have never had a headache from it. Most people here drink torrefacto and price is 3 times cheaper. Also there are chances that torrefacto coffee is more resistant to mold (aflatoxin...) due to sugar coating .

@peatyourheartout sorry, i forgot to add that you will want to make sure your vitamin d level is adequate and likely need to supplement vitamin d. vitamin d in EVOO will be least irritating to the stomach, premier research labs or lark supply are good options. and related to that, making sure you have adequate calcium intake relative phosphorous (grains and meat are high in phosphorous and low in calcium). so milk and cheese if you can tolerate it are good. you can try warm milk with honey and gelatin, some digest that easier. alternatively you can just supplement calcium in the form of eggshell calcium powder, there are a few places that sell it online. these things will get you going in the right direction.

@eduardo-crispino Oh gosh, yes, I meant sucrose, lol. I am not fat. My fat intake is moderate, around 2L of whole milk, small ball of ground beef, 2 eggs, butter from frying, 1-2tsps coconut oil. Yes, I guess it is reactive hyopglycemia, I didn’t know of such a thing, I always dismissed the concept of a “sugar crash” as something fake. Will have to read up on what Dr. Ray had to say about this.

@Vex said in Why is thiamine giving me eczema?: How would you approach treating SIFO? First I'll get informed. If you don't choose the right way, you'll reinforce the survived bacteria able to hide behind a biofilm. See Dr. D'oro site to learn how to manage with SIBO/SIFO. => Google Search (or see below): Dr. D'Oro and SIFO. (in 3 parts; translator needed, doc in French). I've dealt with histamine intolerance and have treated as if I were touched by SIBO. I can give a link to my diary on my forum if desired. But first get informed. See here too: Useful link *) SIBO: the invasion of bad bacteria in your intestine https://mirzoune-ciboulette.forumactif.org/t1131-sibo-pullulation-bacterienne#11611 NB: In French (translator needed). => Key Ideas The microbiota is the center of our immunity. If you regularly suffer from bloating, belching, flatulence, gastric reflux, abdominal pain and/or diarrhea, or even unexplained fatigue, most of these problems originate in the small intestine, where there is an excess of bacteria (SIBO). There is a close link between bacterial overgrowth and celiac disease (irritable bowel syndrome or IBS). SIBO, FODMAPs, gluten sensitivity, lactose intolerance, etc., all contribute to low-grade inflammation of the intestinal mucosa. However, low-grade inflammation weakens leaky gut. This opens the door to an autoimmune reaction. Understand the process that leads to intestinal permeability.

@Insr well, I ditched the main offenders. But would butter/cream still be acceptable? I heard that one has to avoid all dairy, but I don’t think that the fat would have minerals. I also eat plenty of strawberries.
