@Ray-Peat-Fanboy yeah coffee also high in chlorogenic acids , which apparently increases neurogenesis (through turning into caffeic acid in the body). i think ~30% - 60% gets metabolised and ~30% of that goes to caffeic acid and some goes to benzoic acid (which is not good / harmful in higher amounts (e.g i wouldnt like 100mg consecutively) but at low amounts is a mild uncoupler for more heat production by mitochondria https://hal.science/hal-00478797/document. is similar to aspirin). also the caffeic acid + quinic acid are mao-b inhibitors, quinic mild https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8838583/ Upon reaching the colon, chlorogenic acids are hydrolyzed to caffeic acid and quinic acid that are further metabolized through common metabolic pathways mediated by the intestinal microflora. Quinic acid is converted to benzoic acid, which can be further metabolized in the liver by conjugation reaction with glycine to produce hippuric acid. Gonthier et al. (2003) reported that approximately 60% of an ingested dose of chlorogenic acid is recovered as metabolites in the urine of rats, with hippuric acid being the predominant metabolite accounting for 36.5% of the ingested dose. The available studies in humans also indicate that approximately 70% of an ingested dose of chlorogenic acid is transported to the colon intact quinic acid, chlorogenic acid are selective MAO-B inhibitors (quinic acid is mild) in vitro and in vivo also reversed the MAO-A inhibition caused by aluminium (quinic acid neuroprotective in aluminium toxicity but at high dose idk how significant for doses gained through coffee)

@Master I'm afraid so. I have some weird health problems nobody really got an answer to, including and mainly myself. Symptoms seem to match hypothyroidism partly and b12 deficiency. But there is no real reaction to supplementing any of these. I keep searching tho.

So I got a blood test today. I didn't get a full thyroid panel due to the cost. My results are as below: Total cholesterol: 183 mg/dl. Before starting thyroid it was 180, and Ray said for someone on thyroid even 160 is acceptable, so I'm good here; Ferritin: 32.8 μg/l. I test that because one time I did get a result in the low teens and adding more iron helped somewhat. I need to eat liver more regularly, I felt better when it was around 50. Vitamin D (25-OH): 22.8 ng/ml. This is what I get for being a cheapskate. When starting thyroid I reasoned that the test is expensive, and I already had a vit D supplement on hand, so I assumed taking 2000 IU daily will be enough to avoid this problem. Today I took 10 000 IU and there's already some improvement in my mood; I assume this might be the main reason for my recent difficulties; TSH: 2.2 μU/mL. So I'm definitely not experiencing a thyroid storm and my TSH is not being suppressed by excess T3. However, this is puzzling because my TSH was actually lower (1.2) before starting NDT. Does anyone know why taking thyroid might increase someone's TSH? Is it because exogenous hormones have suppressed my natural production, but due to vitamin D deficiency (or some other deficiencies) it fails to increase metabolism and thus the pituitary signals for even more? Or maybe my TSH was suppressed by cortisol (after all, 1.2 is kind of low for someone with waking temperatures in the low 97s), the NDT has lowered cortisol, so now TSH can reach its natural level? Or maybe NDT just isn't for me and I need more T3? My plan for now is to eat liver at least once and preferably twice a week, blast Vitamin D like there's no tomorrow, and stay on the five drop dose until the worst issues go away.

@cremes raw from sigma Aldrich: https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/US/en/search/vitamin-k3?focus=products&page=1&perpage=30&sort=relevance&term=Vitamin k3&type=product Apparently this burns the skin so is for ingestion only as per Haidut. Please do your research on that. I have not considered it yet personally.

Being the right kind of virgin (for the right reasons, aligned with what one values, etc) would be peaty. This implies ofc not reppressing, not seeing oneself as deprived, and at most a lowish-moderate amount of masturbation. Being at constant war with oneself is definitely not very prometabolic. "Giving up" completely and succumbing and being led by every desire is more of the same.

It isn't really. What you're looking for is naringin and hesperidin. Only trace amounts are in the juice, what you want is the peeling. Make some marmalade.

@Milk-Destroyer I know that I am against starches but I eat a meal every 3 days to keep good sleep quality. I get tired of sugar sometimes. My diet consists of milk 1.5% fat 2-3 liters, ground beef 150g and sugar 300g or maple syrup. Sometimes I add dark chocolate without soy lecithin 50g or orange juice fresh 500ml. If I skip the meat, I drink more milk. Above I was talking about starch persorption, but it's safe if you keep lots of bowels movements and not exaggerating in meal portions. It's pretty hard to digest them perfectly tho. Sugar will always be superior.

Your cells are in a stressed state Meaning You are in a stressed state Low thyroid equals high adrenal output usually Hence why the sugar is therapeutic

@monadology To add, I do think there is a non-cortisol cause that adds on as it has been an issue since childhood. So will try a multi-pronged approach.

@Fenômeno I'm guessing you have above average levels of stress. Is that the case ? How well do you sleep ? The responses from other users so far are good, I would focus just on simple things first, good carbs are essential, make sure you have enough through the day and before sleeping (ice cream, milk with a pinch of salt). Your sense of urgency towards this might come from an overactive adrenergic (stress) state, you could take things slower to actually reach a faster, sugar-oxidative metabolism over time. Good leisure as in play, socializing, bonding with family is always a good idea.

@bhspeat I believe it was anywhere from a couple weeks or a month maybe. I switched to Armour after that. I personally wouldn't start with an NDT product like that. I think it will probably just be confusing to figure out what's going on without the ability to be precise. If your temp and pulse are both low and you want to look into thyroid as a tool to get it up, I'd definitely use something like Armor, or Cynomel/Cynoplus. If you haven't seen this article by Danny, it's very helpful. There's a lot of good info on this page as well.

@kgsh1 Interesting, I guess just back off the sun a little. You're lucky to live in a place where you can get enough sun like that. Even in the summer, where I'm at it's always semi-cloudy, except for late June to July.

This could be due (in part) to magnesiums pharmacological effects, particularly blocking glutamate (NMDA antagonism). This has some positive effects on the dopamine system (the "D2" receptor), alongside general relief from excess glutamate (excitotoxicity).
