@DavidPS said in Lipofuscin accumulation in aging and neurodegeneration: Dr. Peat has written about lipofuscin. Too many options (lazy). here I've got this info on my pC. *) How the Oils In Your Diet Are Aging Your Skin. Dr. Peat goes on to explain what this rancidity (oxidation process) does: "The free radicals produced in this process react with parts of cells, such as molecules of DNA and protein, and may become attached to those molecules, causing abnormalities of structure and function." https://raypeat.com/articles/articles/unsaturated-oils.shtml EGCG Inhibited Lipofuscin Formation Based on Intercepting Amyloidogenic β-Sheet-Rich Structure Conversion https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4816542/ "Lipofuscin (LF) is formed during lipid peroxidation and sugar glycosylation by carbonyl-amino crosslinks with biomacrolecules, and accumulates slowly within postmitotic cells. The environmental pollution, modern dietary culture and lifestyle changes have been found to be the major sources of reactive carbonyl compounds in vivo. Irreversible carbonyl-amino crosslinks induced by carbonyl stress are essentially toxiferous for aging-related functional losses in modern society. Results show that (-)-epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), the main polyphenol in green tea, can neutralize the carbonyl-amino cross-linking reaction and inhibit LF formation, but the underlying mechanism is unknown."

@what-about-bob Thanks. I like the summary. How everything all fits in from theae great minds and put together by Ray Peat into more practical lifestyle applicable ideas. I am appreciating how I see myself on the "applied technology" end of their contributions as I incorporate these ideas into my attempt to be my own doctor as I attempt to improve my health. I have been unable for the past 24 years to lower my blood pressure without using prescription medication. But I am seeing the light at the end of this tunnel. It is a long process of learning and I don't give up. Thanks to recent developments in science and technology, I may be able to lower my blood pressure finally using ideas from Peat and his predecessors. What has been helpful is my use of AI as an efficient research assistant and aggregator of concepts and minute details that my own limited human mind can't recall easily and utilize readily.

From what i had read at the old RPF forum, though i always hold open the possibility that i have either misconstrued or misremembered whatever i had read. @Peatly Yes, I read that conversation. I think it was the salesman in him. He obviously is profit-driven and was likely looking to develop a 'better' product. Edit: I'm not a Mercola stan, but I think he is just a flawed perhaps egotistical individual with a profit-driven model of 'success'.

@Sippy They were full of excipients if I recall correctly. So many things are these days. Do you know of any resources for interpreting the results and deciding how to correct imbalances? Regarding interpretation, I am no expert myself so I've relied on others knowledgeable to help me. I cannot vouch for everything this guy says but his videos on HTMA have been useful for me. If you want a real expert with a focus on mineral balancing, fertility, etc. then Andra is someone who you should consider speaking with. Her Twitter is a good resource for free knowledge. Andra is no stranger to Peat and the Bioenergetic community.

@DavidPS It doesn’t have to be either or. You are right CoQ10 could have been studied and it was Coenzyme Q10 as Treatment for Long Term COVID-19 High-dose coenzyme Q10 therapy versus placebo in patients with post COVID-19 condition: a randomized, phase 2, crossover trial Clearly taurine helps in a way that q10 does not Functional Role of Taurine in Aging and Cardiovascular Health: An Updated Overview From the article "The beneficial effects of taurine on Ca2+ and sodium (Na+) handling [89,90,99,100,101,102,103], myocardial energetics [104,105], and cellular signaling pathways (including glucose transport, 3-phosphoinositide-dependent protein kinase-1, AKT, sirtuin 1 (SIRT1), FOXO3, p38, NFkappaB, and others) [106,107,108,109,110,111,112,113,114,115,116,117,118,119,120,121] are thought to underlie its major cardioprotective effects. In addition, taurine has been shown to attenuate the actions of angiotensin II on its downstream signaling pathways, on Ca2+ transport, and on protein synthesis [113]." @izkrov ? That is not associated with what I’m talking about. That study is not even associated with what im talking about either I agree with you that the difference isn’t huge. Although based upon the 2 responses you have sent me you did not read all the articles fully, then understood what they were talking about. The writing clearly states bone growth pauses because of caffiene.

@TopicalsOnBalls said in Topical Solutions on scalp for hair regrowth: interesting, you’re not concerned of the downstream effects of minoxidil? im making sure to apply minoxidil away from the times i dermastamp, i wait 24 hours, the systemic aborbtion is very low from what ive read. i am a little concerned about downstream effects, i think haidut posted on RPF how some people are getting PFS from topical minox which is pretty scary. https://www.askapatient.com/viewrating.asp?drug=20834&name=ROGAINE+EXTRA+STRENGTH+(FOR+MEN) ive been on it for a few weeks now and my erections are fine and no sides so far. its by far the most effective pharmaceutical for hairloss and doesnt seem to mess with DHT so im taking the chance. @TopicalsOnBalls said in Topical Solutions on scalp for hair regrowth: Unique way to use coke, I’ve read about others getting glucose to the scalp by using a honey mask honey is too sticky and gets tangled in my hair. i filled a spray bottle with some coke and just spray it on my scalp and massage it in whenever i can remember, its just a convenient way to get some sugar on there. "Ray Peat: I've been thinking that with a concentrated glucose solution, you could probably activate hair growth just by keeping your scalp moistened with glucose."

Study link Important to note that this is not a structural change. The post-exertion swelling of the feet is due to increased blood flow. If one were to walk for many hours, for many months, then you'd develop structural changes. Walking on a treadmill for three hours sounds like it sucks.

SIBO can always cause unforeseen issues, but "transitioning" should be smooth. A good healthy diet wouldn't be that much different from a so called "normie diet." The biggest differences are what you're not eating. Processed foods for the most part. But more importantly seed oils, thickeners like guar gum, gellan gum, bean gum, arabic gum, xanthan gum, carrageenan, added phosphates like dicalcium phosphate, sodium phosphate, trisodium phosphate, phosphoric acid, etc. For many people citric acid will be a no go as well, also iron fortification. Vitamin fortification may cause issues with some people who are sensitive. Some people can tolerate whole milk but not low-fat milk (which is fortified). That's literally 95% of the work right there. Anything else is minuscule at best. And would more or less be "fine tuning" to your specific tolerances. Like, for example, some people don't respond to starch well, or grains. Some people can't handle dairy. Some do better with starch than fruit, etc.

B1 at around 150mg a day cured me of all my digestive issues of "IBS", which I had struggled with for years, in a few days. Wasn't expecting it to do that at all, was taking it for something unrelated. I no longer need to take it daily and feel I need a "top up" of B1 every week or two. This was around 18 months ago and still have no issues.
