And I was looking for the answer on whether FMTs are a guarantor for clearance of fungal abundance in the small intestinal or colonic lumen. Surprisingly, it's a no! It appears to be even the other way round. Here's something interesting IMO about FMTs: Gut fungal dysbiosis correlates with reduced efficacy of fecal microbiota transplantation in Clostridium difficile infection, 2018 In this study, it is shown that CDI is strongly accompanied by over-representation of Candida albicans and decreased fungal diversity, richness, and evenness. Post-FMT, successful responders lack their previous C. albicans dominance but rather display a high relative abundance of Saccharomyces and Aspergillus. High abundance of C. albicans in donor stool also correlates with reduced FMT efficacy. In essence, therefore, annihilation of Candida dominance in CDI patients is crucial for FMT success and arguable it could be much advisable to pre-/co-treat any CDI with antifungals along with either ABx or FMT. Another study showed contrasting results of FMT on UC: Fungal Trans-kingdom Dynamics Linked to Responsiveness to Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) Therapy in Ulcerative Colitis, 2020 Herein they showed that in contrast to FMT in CDI, clinically successful response to FMT in UC very much depended on high Candida abundance at baseline, which decreased after FMT. The authors argue that the prior Candida dominance may provide a specific niche for bacterial engraftment, ameliorating UC. So, the very opposite of the pre-conditions in CDI. However, what the authors do not talk about in their text but what their graphs clearly show is the following caveat: UC patients with a low relative Candida abundance at baseline did not only not clinically benefit from the FMT, but their dysbiosis, inflammation and Candida levels post-FMT was mostly even larger than before (confounders? Small sample size?): [image: 1-s2.0-S1931312820301700-fx1.jpg] [image: 1-s2.0-S1931312820301700-gr2.jpg]´

I noticed the reprint of Nutrition for Women says "100 short articles by Ray Peat, PHD," where the old one said "92...". What did they add to it? Also, note that From PMS to Menopause is for sale on Peat's website but not Amazon, and Peat's website doesn't have Generative Energy. Weird. I wonder if Katherine gets more of the money if you order from Peat's site. I'd imagine so.

I’ve been using two drops 8mg of thymoquinone of the current formulation right before bed on my tongue. Sleeping extra good. Don’t wake up at all until alarm clock except some recent thunderstorms. I replaced 4 drops of Kuinone on tongue before bed. I like the effects of Tuinone better. More calming. For black seed oil seems like if you had an extra strength oil 7.5% TQ you’d need about a teaspoon of the product and would be getting lots of Pufa and other things that aren’t thymoquinone

@alfredoolivas Perhaps, but I'm not certain. I actually was eating a lot more kale recently (maybe 150g a day) for a week and I did notice I had lost some weight (like 5lbs), but I was also walking in nature more at the time. I'll try incorporating it more consistently and get back to you.

@hawk1 okay you actually had agency & balls and settled with some pretty decent sources. It took you two months, but I’m proud of you if that means anything.

Hi @nicemushroom17, due to thyroid disease that went undiagnosed and untreated for years, I developed gallbladder disease and a severe case of SIBO and gastritis, which caused histamine reactions to most foods and since dietary, antimicrobial and vitamin interventions weren’t enough to improve my thyroid and gallbladder function, eliminate the overgrowth and heal my intestinal lining, I went on an elimination diet of gelatinous proteins (mainly scallops and gelatinous broth), easy to digest, simple sugars from fresh pressed fruit juice (mainly honeydew melon) and coconut water, and gallbladder friendly, medium chain fats from coconut, and started supplementing thyroid (NDT—WP Thyroid), then slowly reintroduced foods as my condition improved. It took a few months of optimizing my thyroid dose before the gallbladder and adrenaline attacks ceased, and it was about a year before I was tolerating most foods again so supporting my thyroid was of greatest importance. I haven’t researched finasteride, but does it have an immune suppressing effect? If so, that may be why a lot of your histamine issues went away while taking it?

@handsome-baby Don't worry because I forget about this place too. I remember hearing people say that when you take substances in general you should take note of the lowest dose in which you feel an effect in case you ever decide to try supplementing again

@zorba990 That’s good to keep in mind. However, I think I actually have high iron based on the fact that I ate a high iron diet alongside a diet rich in fruit and low in calcium for several years. I’m pretty positive but not 100% if that’s what’s causing me problems though, we’ll see.

Update: Mostly inspired by this thread I have bought an E-Ink tablet . The Boox note air 4c. I had to become a mini expert on e inks but I think I made the right decision. I've been using it for over a month and I like it so far. It's less taxing on the eyes. And most importantly it doesn't feel weirdly stimulating, ADHD-inducing like LCD displays. It doesn't stress me as much. There is still a little EMF: On the front the values go up to 0.5uT averaging 0.1-0.3 uT. You can compare these values to other ones given in this thread. On the back there is close to zero or zero measurable EMF, so if you touch it on the back you can reduce EMF exposure. I can't use if for working I think it's too small for that. Typing also takes longer. So I'm using mostly the stylus to literally write what I want to post, which is fine. I'm also using text to speech which works surprisingly well. Still if I need to be quick, I don't use my E-Ink I go for my laptop or phone. If I only read, research do little typing it's a very good device. Watching videos on it works as well and also feels less stimulating than on other devices.

@castle said in Just 1 minute of red light is effective: @Luke said in Just 1 minute of red light is effective: almost 20 years now (back then for acne) and I never cared about the warnings not to look into it. I didn't shine it directly into the eyes intentionally, but I also never closed or covered them. And I'm the only one in my family, including extended family (aside from one cousin) who has good eyes and never needed glasses. Could have many reasons of course, but maybe the red light was a factor. interesting. were you limiting your exposure all that time? I never did more than 15 minutes a day or so, maximum 20. But I didn't limit it deliberately, I just didn't see the benefit in using it more.
